Hi there. It’s been awhile. An embarrassingly long while. Last time I posted I was getting ready to launch an app, and things got a little….well….busy.

Now I’m back, and ready to do this. Things are still busy, but it’s a new year with a lot of buzzwords about reaching your dreams and achieving your goals, so here we are. Plus, I added a couple hours to each day to make it easier…not really, but if I figure that out I’ll let you know.

I thought it would be fun and easy to kick things off in 2018 by playing 20 questions with my boys about how I’m doing as a dad…on my birthday. So, here’s to 31 years on earth and 5 ½ years of fatherhood. Noah is 5 ½, David is 3 ½, and Selah can’t talk sooooo…..Noah and David get the nod this year. Make me proud boys! Noah: Hector Luis Cruz

David: I don’t know, tell me

Truth: Hector Luis Cruz Jr….first question, and I realize I have already failed David somehow.

2. What is my favorite color?

Noah: Red

David: Black and Red

Truth: Red

3. Where am I from?

Noah: Florida

David: Evangel

Truth: Florida, though I did go to Evangel and still work there so David is kinda right…maybe.

4. Do I have any brothers or sisters?

Noah: No

David: Yeah, Uncle Benny

Truth: No, though “Uncle Benny” along with “Uncle Maty” and “Uncle Jonathan” are brothers-in-law so…again…David is kinda right…maybe.

5. What is something I always say to you?

Noah: “No” and “I love you”

David: I don’t know…you say good words to me.

*Good words. I love good words*

6. What makes me happy?

Noah: When we are with you

David: Me making happy faces

7. What makes me sad?

Noah: It must make you sad when you’re at work cause you’re not with us.

David: When I do this (bounces head off the couch…repeatedly)

*At this point we had to pause to get David to stop giving himself a concussion*

8. How do I make you laugh?

Noah: When you tell knock knock jokes

David: When you do this! (bounces head off the couch)

*Another pause for David…his ACT lost a few points during this interview*

9. What was I like as a child?

Noah: You played outside

David: You went as fast as you could

10. How old am I?

Noah: 13

David: 5 (holds up 5 fingers while letting out a solid toot)

11. How tall am I?

Noah: As tall as our van

David: (points at me) this tall

Truth: 6’2”

12. How much do I weigh?

Noah: 150

David: (measures my stomach) that’s how heavy you are…as heavy as a giraffe

*Reminds me of the time I told Eden about a friend who thought I was starting to look scrawny, to which she replied, “What?! You’re as big as you’ve ever been!” Neither opinion made me feel real good*

13. What is my favorite thing to do?

Noah: Play with us

David: This (smiles)

14. What do I do when you’re not around?

Noah: You get sad

David: Run around and look for me

15. What am I really good at?

Noah: The Charlie Brown board game, Surprise Slides

David: Working on stuff

16. What is something I’m not good at?

Noah: Checkers

David: Fixing stuff

*Apparently I work a lot but don’t actually fix anything…confidence is plummeting at this point*

17. What do I do for a job?

Noah: Raise money for Evangel

David: You go somewhere to eat and you work on your computer

Truth: David is, again, kinda right……maybe.

18. What is my favorite food?

Noah: French Fries

David: Tuna Melts

Truth: I don’t like to discriminate against any type of food by picking favorites. I like it all.

19. What do you enjoy doing with me?

Noah: Playing the Wii

David: Drinking water like you always do
